Mangyan is the eight indigenous groups found on the island of Mindoro, Philippines. Each has its own tribal name, language, and customs.
According to VSO Bahaginan, an international development charity, almost 300 households beyond the mighty Mt. Halcon in Oriental Mindoro does not have access to electricity. They live-off kerosene lamps which usually result to health problems and fire accidents.
Our team is heading to Mt. Halcon on April 11, 2014, to meet with the Mangyans and immerse ourselves to better understand how they live their lives without electricity. Feel free to join us! Just click on the link below for more information.
